Coaching Bio

I am a swimmer who has represented Australia during 2017 to 2019. I am fortunate to enjoy a reputation as someone who is positive and genuinely upbeat in my approach to life and sport. My aim is always to engage and interact in a fun and engaging manner with people. I am acutely aware of the impact that I can have as a high-profile swimmer with young athletes and the broader sporting community. I take my responsibilities to sport and all participants seriously and have a deep-rooted desire to have a positive impact on every person that crosses my path.

I made my first Australian Team in 2017 for the World Championship where I won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals. Following this, I competed at my first Commonwealth Games in 2018 on the Gold Coast. I was successful in winning a gold medal in the 4x100m freestyle relay team with a World Record and also placing 4th in my individual 50m and 100m freestyle. I have been presented with significant challenges in my sporting career. These challenges have equipped me with the necessary skill set to mentor and teach. My objective is to instruct upcoming athletes and their families about how to deal with the adversity and obstacles that all participants in sport encounter along their personal and professional pathway. I believe I would be an ideal mentoring coach for anyone and everyone as I have learnt so much about how important being positive and setting goals can help improve everyday life as well as any career dreams you have. My understanding of the value of positive mental health and the benefits of a positive mind was confirmed. My belief in who I am and what I stand for was reinforced and my message is one to be shared with others. I became aware of the power of residual determination and resilience. In 2019, I was subjected to a seismic change to my sporting career. I was accused of using a performance enhancing substance. Despite knowing that I did not use such substances, my whole world was turned upside down and I was pitchforked into an unknown world of lawyers, politics and machinations that was completely foreign to me. Throughout this process, I learnt a considerable amount about myself. I learnt that the purest pursuit for me was my sport of swimming. I learnt that my individuality was my strength. That message is that honesty and the truth will prevail and both factors should never be compromised by anyone or anything. I look forward to sharing the strategies and practices that support me to stay strong in uncertain times, to other athletes no matter how big, or small, their challenges or sporting goals.

Shayna Jack was absolutely fabulous for our daughter. We actually booked this as a birthday present for our daughter but we know this will become more frequent due to what she got from the session. Shayna is the perfect mix of professional, knowledgeable but also relatable to my teen daughter. Shayna immediately saw areas my daughter could improve on with specific drills, but she made it fun and my daughter loved every minute of the session. Shayna was able to explain things from a swimmers perspective which made it easy to understand for my 12 yr old. We have already rebooked! How lucky young swimmers are to have Shayna as a mentor and coach.
