I am a driven and enthusiastic elite hockey player wanting to help young athletes discover their potential. I’m 20 years old and currently in the U21’s Women’s National Junior Squad whilst studying a Bachelor of Science at the University of Melbourne. I am a coach at Hockey Victoria, where I share my knowledge to young athletes in the skill development pathways. At the moment, my goal is to make the Junior World Cup team and travel to Chile in December, 2023. I will be playing in the HockeyOne league for Hockey Club Melbourne this year.
Growing up, I loved trying my hand at many sports around the western suburbs of Melbourne. I enjoyed little athletics, tennis and netball, although hockey was not an option in my own town. My Grandmother and Mother had grown up in country Victoria, both having played for the Wedderburn Redbacks Hockey team that plays on grass. They convinced me to try Hockey one day on a family weekend trip then as an 11-year-old, the fire was lit. Within weeks I found the nearest club, the Melton Mustangs where I played in their mixed junior teams. Then I joined my Mum at Essendon Hockey Club. Since then, there have been many tournaments, and wonderful support from the EHC, Hockey Victoria, the VIS and now Hockey Australia. I enjoy the team focus, the freedom and the athletic nature of the sport of hockey. When I’m not at hockey, or at uni, I spend time with my dog and little brother, enjoying the outdoors and the odd game of golf, basketball and kicking the footy.
