Growing up playing basketball, I have been fortunate enough to experience the game across all levels, from an uncoordinated first-timer to competing in the National Prep Championship in Connecticut on the number one seeded team. Currently, I play in the Big V League for the University of Melbourne, where I also coach much of the domestic program. Outside of the Uni, I train many athletes individually, while also coaching several small teams or group sessions. I have experience with female and male athletes of all skill levels and am flexible on location around Carlton and Melbourne if a player has a preferred court.
I worked extremely hard to earn the opportunity to play in America, and I was rewarded with three years of competition across the country, playing as part of several nationally ranked teams. Throughout this journey, I strived to participate in as much coaching as possible; whether running community-based programs or private workouts, I have always taken pride in being able to elevate the game of others. Currently, I compete in Victoria's Big V League in their Division One competition. I coach for the University of Melbourne, leading both their intermediate and elite group sessions. I also run Helping Hoops’ North Melbourne program, offering free basketball training for disadvantaged or at-risk youth. On top of this, I train individual athletes to complement their team training or off-season workouts. I rely heavily on my background of being a tutor, from my time at the California School for the Deaf to tutoring students through their HSC and VCE exams, I draw on these experiences to ensure not only that my explanations are clear, but more importantly, that my athletes understand how a drill or skill translates to a game situation. I try to present myself as a highly approachable coach, ensuring all of my athletes feel comfortable approaching me for advice or insight into their game, a drill, their recruitment, or any of the other queries that arise during the athletic journey. I make sure to explain everything I spend time on during trainings, not just in regard to how to carry out the exercise, but why we are doing it and what benefit it will bring. My time spent training to play in America, my coaching resume, and my time spent playing at an elite level has exposed me to a diverse base of knowledge, and I am fortunate enough to have the skills and experience to guide a player's development towards their goals; whether this is to master the basic skills of the game and develop an understanding of the rules, improve their overall fitness, earn the starting spot in their position, or develop the skills to compete overseas, I take pride in being able to help others on their journey towards accomplishment.
